Dear Maritess,
When you use an interview, you use its content as you would any other outside source material to develop and support a point you're asserting in your essay.
So you don't just plug in an entire interview or a chunk of it into the essay without properly setting it up.
You need to introduce its content as it pertains to the idea being discussed.
You can use the interview content throughout the essay if it's appropriate to other points you're developing.
And, if you're following MLA guidelines as we are in this class, you follow the proper parenthetical documentation for the interview,
and then offer a complete citation on the works cited page.
I'm glad you're not confused, and I'm glad you're getting assistance from an instructor.
You may want to ask him to help you with thesis construction for your extended analysis
once you decide on the books you'll explore in the essay.
best, Ms. E
